04/22/2009 - (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - The last time Joe Blanton faced the Brewers, he pitched the Phillies into the NLDS. Getting the Phillies over .500 tonight would be a nice encore.
Philadelphia sends Blanton to the hill tonight in the second game of a three- game series with Milwaukee at Citizens Bank Park.
The Phillies won five of six versus the Brewers last year, including a four- game sweep at home from September 11-14 that caused Milwaukee to stumble down the finish and heading into the playoffs.
Philadelphia then took care of Milwaukee in four games in the postseason's first round, with Blanton getting the win in that deciding Game 4. The right- hander had never faced the Brewers in the regular season, but tossed six innings of one-run ball in that October 5 meeting, striking out seven.
Blanton went 4-0 in 13 regular-season games with the Phillies last year after joining the club prior to the trade deadline from Oakland. He got a no- decision in his first start of the season on April 8, then lasted six innings last Thursday in a loss to Washington, his first in a Phils uniform. He allowed three runs on eight hits in that setback.
Philadelphia didn't slow down versus Milwaukee in Tuesday's series opener, posting an 11-4 victory. Pedro Feliz paced the offense with three hits, a homer, three runs batted in and two runs scored, while Jamie Moyer (2-1) pitched six innings to earn the win.
The Phillies, who have won two straight, plated four runs in the first inning, keyed by Jayson Werth's two-run double, while Chase Utley's bases-loaded walk in the fifth inning was part of a five-run frame.
Raul Ibanez went 1-for-4 with an RBI and run scored to extend his hitting streak to eight games. He is hitting .455 (15-for-33) with four homers, eight runs batted in and 10 runs scored over the burst.
Milwaukee's Ryan Braun broke out of an early season slump with two homers as part of a career-high five-hit day. He drove in all four Milwaukee runs as well. He upped his average from .222 to .300 with the effort.
Second baseman Rickie Weeks left the game in the first inning due to dizziness, while Manny Parra (0-3) gave up five runs on seven hits during a four-inning start.
Braden Looper starts for the Brewers and he is set to make his third start of the season. He is coming off his lone decision of the year, a win over Cincinnati on Wednesday. He lasted six innings, allowing three runs on six hits over six innings with five strikeouts.
Looper is 2-6 with 16 saves in 60 career games versus the Phillies, making two starts against them. Both of those came last year and he lost each start, pitching to a 4.15 earned run average.
Utley is a lifetime .364 hitter (4-for-11) with a homer and two RBI versus Looper, while Ryan Howard has four home runs in five at-bats against him.

Trash talk has a place in every competitive endeavor (except baseball; those stirrup-wearers are too busy chewing on their sunflower seeds and their supplements to worry about what their opponents are doing).
Fantasy sports is no exception. Any intelligent discussion of the subject would probably start with a thesis statement or a definition of terms. Thankfully, this wont be an intelligent discussion.
Let me just say that I am happy to take a place in this space alongside my talented colleagues, even our commissioner. (You should see how she bleats like a demented paper boy about league fees on our fantasy site).
Trash talking, I would argue, is primarily about amusing your friends, their sheeplike demeanors and sloping foreheads notwithstanding. The best place I have found for football trash talking is at www.SportsAlarm.com.
Beyond the entertainment factor, though, I would recognize that the sophomoric ritual has one advantage, when properly applied. It magnifies your fantasy triumphs and mitigates your fantasy failures by transforming the eventual point total into an afterthought. Winning makes it seem like your opponent really is a truss-owning, lapel-pin-wearing nitwit. And in defeat, trash talk can be the air bag to break the fall from your hyperbolic heights. The plug-necked yahoos on your team, you can say, will be sacking groceries by the end of the season.
The best trash talk, in my view, is layered and nuanced. And it doesnt focus only on your opponents team. It picks apart your opponent. The idea is to create a shock-and-awe-scale blizzard of nonsense, and the goal is to make your opponent drop his hands from his keyboard in exasperation.
What team does your opponent root for? Accuse a Giants fan of having a Joe Namath pillowcase. Wheres your opponent from? Give a look of concern no matter his reply, then say, I'll try to type slower for you next time. Is your opponent into politics? Label everyone a tax-and-spend corporate shill.
Cap all that with a liberal application of irrelevance. For instance, dont just conclude by saying your opponent is a twerp who drafts like my grandmother. Say that your opponent is a sweater-wearing, eyebrow-plucking twerp who drafts his team about as well as Zsa Zsa Gabor gave acceptance speeches at the Oscars. By the time your foe makes sense of that, his starting running back will have had puppies.
But what about you? Hmm? Recall a memorable slam? Have a tried-and-true technique? Know someone who seems impervious to insult? Take a moment and tells us about it. Put together some (fit-for-publication) thoughts. You wont be too busy returning phone messages from your friends, Im sure, to reply.
In addition to the trash talking, the Sports Alarm has a huge gallery of high resolution pictures of beautiful women and models in bikinis. The most popular models are: Lindsay Lohan, Carrie Underwood, Alessandra Ambrosio, and Paris Hilton.
Will Ohio State continue to run the table in College Football betting odds?
MySportsbook.com favors Buckeyes, Fighting Irish and Golden Bears in this weekend's big games.
NEW YORK, NY, Sept. 21 - My Sportsbook NCAA football fans: things are beginning to get really interesting on college football's national stage. Following last weekend's "Separation Saturday", which included five teams ranked in the top 15 dropping games, the BCS Championship picture is beginning to take shape - with Ohio State leading the charge. And, according to odds makers at MySportsbook.com, the number-one-ranked Buckeyes will continue their winning ways this weekend.
Revenge will be the name of the game in Columbus this Saturday, as Ohio State looks to even the score following last season's loss to Joe Paterno's Nittany Lions. Although Penn State are listed as 16.5 point underdogs, they are 11-10 all-time versus the Buckeyes. Paterno and the Lions, however, will have to shut down Heisman Trophy favorite Troy Smith who has thrown for 769 yards and seven touchdowns this season.
Speaking of revenge, Notre Dame will be out for some against Michigan State, following last year's 44 - 41 overtime loss to the Spartans in South Bend. The thirteenth-ranked Irish, listed as a 3-point favorite, will also be looking to avenge last Saturday's thrashing from the Michigan Wolverines. The Spartans, meanwhile, have won seven of the last nine match-ups against Notre Dame and are coming off an impressive 38-23 victory over Pittsburgh.
Out west, 22nd-ranked Arizona State will be battling for their first victory over 21st-ranked California since 2000. Although the Golden Bears are listed as 7.5-point favorites, the Sun Devils are 3-0, lead the nation in sacks with 18 and possess the Pac-10's leading passer in sophomore quarterback Rudy Carpenter.
