New Suns head coach Alvin Gentry improved to 2-0 since taking over for Terry Porter, albeit both wins have come against the Clippers, who have the third- worst record in the NBA at 13-42. The Suns have recorded their two highest offensive outputs of the season in the past two games, as the team crushed LA, 140-100, on Tuesday night.

Steve Nash contributed 21 points and 12 assists in the win for Phoenix, its fourth in the last six games overall. Jason Richardson, who returned from a one-game suspension, added 17 points, while Shaquille O'Neal recorded 16 points and six rebounds.

Al Thornton scored a team-high 33 points for the Clippers, who were without Zach Randolph, who was suspended for two games after punching Phoenix' Louis Amundson on Tuesday. Eric Gordon had 23 points as LA fell for the third time in four games.

Reserve Fred Jones tallied a season-high 20 points, while Baron Davis had 14 in defeat.

The Clippers ended the first quarter on an 11-2 run but still trailed, 30-29, after the opening 12 minutes.

LA went up, 34-30, early in the second but a 17-4 Suns run put Phoenix back out in front. Stoudemire had nine points during the burst and his jumper gave the Suns a 47-38 lead. They led, 67-53, at halftime.

The Clips got as close as seven in the third quarter, but a Richardson layup in the final minute sent the Suns to the fourth with a 103-90 lead.

Phoenix outscored the Clippers, 13-5, in the early minutes of the fourth, as a Leandro Barbosa jumper made it a 116-95 game, and the Suns cruised from that point.

LA's Ricky Davis was ejected after receiving two technical fouls at the end of the third quarter.
